Preferred audience: prep to year 9
Andrew is an author and illustrator of picture books. He has presented sessions in schools and libraries from Alice Springs to Beijing and France. He also paints murals, and designs and builds theatre sets for schools and amateur theatre groups.
Andrew's latest book, The Poppy, is a story of Australian soldiers in France in World War 1. It was released in March 2014 by Ford Street Publishing.
Andrew explores the creation of a picture book through fun, rambunctious sessions drawing (literally) on the students' imagination. Early primary students learn about the basics of character and plot, whilst older students develop ideas on point of view and design.
All students leave the session with their own book in hand. Andrew’s presentations range from an hour to longer artist-in-residence programs.
