Emily Gale is an internationally published author of four Young Adult novels, a Junior Fiction duology and several books for pre-schoolers.
Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked in the publishing industry for over twenty years in several roles, including children’s book editor, reader for a literary agent, and book-buyer.
For high school we workshop how to grow a story from a single seed, including ideas about inspiration, character and structure, using flash fiction and black-out poetry.
For primary-age I teach students how to write a diary-style book. They develop a main character and a sidekick and we look at different plot-shapes.
My talks take students through the ups and downs of a writing career, including what I’ve learnt while working in four different roles in the book industry.
