James Phelan is the author of 30 books, including thrillers, young adult, and middle grade fiction.
After studying architecture and working on the Federation Square design team, James studied English Literature and worked at The Age for five years. While there, he studied an MA Writing, then a PhD in Literature.

Presentation: “Follow your dreams.” James takes the audience on a journey highlighting his love of reading, his journey to publication, how he writes, and what it’s like living your dream.
Workshop: “Things we didn’t see coming.” You may sit down to write with astounding ideas and blazing intentions, but get lost somewhere in the middle. Writing stories are all about getting us to the end, and James will explain what it takes for a character to take us along that journey.
