Jenny Blackford

  • Author
  • Poet

Jenny writes poems and stories for people of all ages, often with a tinge of magic, weird science, humour or history.

Her latest book, The Girl in the Mirror, is a time-shifting, spine-tingling mystery with spidery ghosts, for 8-12 year olds. Jenny’s YA-crossover novel set in ancient Delphi and Athens, The Priestess and the Slave, was described by bestselling author, Alison Goodman, as ‘a compelling blend of vivid storytelling and meticulous research’.

Jenny’s poetry books are suitable for people from 11 to 111, and include many poems that have appeared in the NSW School Magazine, or have won prizes. She is also expert in ancient Greek and Roman myth, religion and daily life, especially the lives of women and girls.

Talks and Workshops

Jenny offers talks and workshops on poetry and prose for students from middle primary to upper secondary, as well as for adults. She is happy to tailor the length and topic to your needs.
