Originally from the UK, Karen lives on the south coast of Melbourne with her three children, husband, dogs and chickens. She has illustrated many children’s pictures books for a range of Australian publishers over the past ten years, and is a qualified, experienced teacher. She strives for life and freedom in all her work.
Talks and Workshops
In workshops, Karen focuses on teaching primary school aged children how to draw and paint vibrant, characters and scenes. Using different mediums in her teaching, she encourages movement and freedom in the work her students create. Picture books are often used to inspire students, and to give them examples of what can be achieved.
Karen teaches students of all ages but has more experience with teaching primary to middle school ages.
